Used for origin, source, and separation

FROM is the opposite of TO - it indicates the starting point, origin, or source of something or someone. FROM answers 'where from?' or 'who from?'. It can show physical origin (where something comes from), temporal origin (starting time), or the source/cause of something. FROM also indicates separation or distance away from something. In British English, you'll commonly hear FROM used in expressions of origin (I'm FROM Yorkshire), material composition (made FROM wood), and source (suffer FROM allergies). Note: British English typically uses 'different FROM' (not 'different THAN' or 'different TO' used in some varieties).
