Zero Conditional
The zero conditional is used to talk about general truths, scientific facts, and things that are always true. It describes situations where one thing always causes another.
“If you heat water to 100°C, it boils”
First Conditional
The first conditional is used to talk about real and possible situations in the future. It describes things that are likely to happen if a specific condition is met.
“If it rains tomorrow, I will stay home”
Second Conditional
The second conditional is used to talk about hypothetical or unlikely situations in the present or future. It describes imaginary situations and their consequences.
“If I won the lottery, I would travel the world”
Third Conditional
The third conditional is used to talk about hypothetical situations in the past. It describes things that didn't happen and imagines the result if they had happened.
“If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam”
Mixed Conditionals
Mixed conditionals combine different time frames - typically a past cause with a present result. They express how past actions or events affect current situations.
“If I hadn't eaten so much last night, I wouldn't be sick now”
